Today's project

When we were @ World Market on Saturday, I bought a new strainer, because I don't like the wire ones that I've been using.

After buying the new strainer I got right to work making my vegetable hanging baskets.

I used twine to hang the baskets.

I doubled the twine and then folded that in half.  Then I tied a loop @ the top to hand it from.  I originally wanted to braid it, but I don't know how to braid with four strands, so I just knotted it over and over again.

I took the smallest basket and wrapped some new twine around it. (This isn't the same one as before, I saved that for the end).

I had trouble getting the twine to stay on the sides, rather than slide around.  So I wrapped it about 3x...each direction.

So it looked like this at the end.

A little closer view.

Then I knotted it together.  Then I took the middle basket and measured where it would need to go to line up.

I used the same twine that I just used on the small basket.  And I wrapped it just like the 1st basket, only this time I had double, because it was easier to put both strands through the space and wrap.

Then I knotted that one as well.  I then used the same twine strand to connect the big basket at the bottom.  I repeated the these steps for all four sides.  Yes I divided the handles up, so I have two connectors on each handle.

This is what it looked like before I cut off the extra twine, so it's a little hard to see.

Now it's time to attach the 1st twine that you made (The one that will hang it from the ceiling).

I Left about 8 in of twine that I didn't knot together, remember that I had 4 strands, well I took each one and knotted it around each corner of the handles, over the other twine that connects the baskets.

And here is my final product...I'm so proud of it and so happy that it worked!!

Ansel Adams Exhibit

So excited to go see the Ansel Adams exhibit with Wes, Bekah, Diane & Ben!!

We loved the Exhibition! Look at our AWESOME stickers :)

Ahhh, scramble faces...can't take pictures without taking a scramble face photo :)

The boys :) Ben's wife Allison couldn't come :( But we enjoyed having Ben hang out with us @ the exhibit.

And a trip to sioux Falls always means a trip to Starbucks.  I was so excited that I could use my new cloth sleeve cozy.

We had a productive day...lunch @ The diner, Ansel Adams exhibit, Starbucks, then shopping @ World Market & finally dinner @ HuHot.

The boys are ready to go play some Lego Indiana Jones.

And finally Bekah & I :)

Spring Planting!

Look how excited we are to go get some hosta plants for our yards! Can't you tell Matt is super stoked :) He really was excited, just didn't want to show it.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!! Look @ them, I can't wait until they grow and we can have even more!

After getting the Hostas, we took a much needed coffee break @ The Fruited Plain.

Matt did such a great job of digging the holes for the plants and planting the 1st one.

Planting the 2nd one :)

Matt got a little camera happy, while I was planting.  No, seriously he took like 10 photos, but that way I could chose the best one...or two :) This 2nd plant is my favorite one.

OMGOSH. I'm SO STOKED that these are planted!!! Aren't they AWESOME!!! I can't wait til nect year when we can start re-planting more!

We were really proud of our hard working skills in planting our hostas.  1 thing checked off the spring/summer list. :)

What a moment

So this Saturday we took a trip to Lowe's to buy a much needed new lawnmower.  Hmm, I will have to add the photo of the lawnmower later, since I didn't take a photo of that....I was TOO EXCITED about  going to Lowe's...I love hardware stores!

Then on the way home we stopped @ the hardware store in town (It was a good day for me) But a little back story:
So when we bought our grill, we walked it home, because it wouldn't fit in our jeep.  I unfortunately didn't get a photo of that moment (I was a little busy helping move the grill).  But when we bought the ladder that didn't fit, I couldn't help but take a photo of Matt walking it home :)

Easter in Des Moines

This year we went to Matt's parents' church for Easter.

What a great looking family!!

After church we went over to my parents' house for lunch.
It took all four men to grill the grub.

While us lovely ladies finished making the rest.

This is what happens when we get to talking.

It was totally worth saving though. Notice Bryant peaking over...even the burnt bread was worth stealing :)

Happy Easter to Nate!!!

Nate even gave us a card, that he filled with stickers and colored himself. It was so SWEET!

He loved his Easter Basket with his frog...

He also really enjoyed the Cars racetrack that we bought him.

I'm an art teacher

This is what happens while I'm the art teacher.  Yep. I was putting the glaze away and it dropped, and amazingly it didn't tip over and spill.  Nope, instead it dropped right side up and splattered all over the room! Seriously how could I NOT take a photo! :)
