Cubs Fans

GO CUBS!
It just so happened that Tom wore a cubs shirt along with me the day we left the hospital.  And of course, Arya came home in her cubs onesie.
So of course, I had to take a photo.

Hospital Visitors

Not only did Grandpa & Grandma Scott along with Grandpa & Grandma Hoehamer visit, but there were many other visitors for Arya Hoehamer.

Aunt Cassie and cousin Nate came to visit.

There were even some families from out bibles study who came to visit.

My mentor from school came, she brought these beautiful flowers.

We also had both principles from the school visit.

LABOR STORY

There are surgery images below

Beginning of labor.  I woke up Tuesday, May 7th at 2:00 a.m. with minor contractions.  After 2 hours the contractions went from 20 min to 15, to almost consistently 10 min. apart. At 4:30 I woke Matt up telling him that I believed I was in labor.  We started logging the contractions to see if they were real or brackens hicks.  After an hour, they were continuing to be 10 min. apart and starting to get stronger. By 6 a.m. the contractions starting getting closer, alternating between 5 min. apart and 10 min. apart.

We ended up leaving for the hospital around 7:30a.m. with the contractions being 4-5 min. apart.
After some checking they found out I was dilated at a 3-4 so we were admitted to the hospital by 8 a.m.  It was official, we were on our way to having our baby girl!

Here is the monitor printout of her heartbeat, along with my contractions.

Luckily, both sets of parents were able to make it for the labor.  Around 7 a.m., we both called our parents to let them know that baby was on her way and that they should be too!  Matt's parents were able to leave a little earlier and arrived around 12 p.m.  My parents left not long after and arrived around 2 p.m.  I was very excited to have both my mom and Lynne with us in the delivery room, they were huge supports for both Matt and I.

Labor in the beginning went very fast.  I was able to breathe through all of the contractions without using any meds.  I dilated very quickly.  Within, 3-4 hours I was dilated to a 6.  Then around 3:00 I was checked again and I was dilated to an 8.  The nurses were impressed with how well the progress was going.  We all believed that it was going to be a quick delivery.
Since labor was going so well and so quickly the nurses said they wouldn't be surprised if I delivered around 6:00 or 7:00.  So of course, I decided that we should look at the menu and decide what we wanted to order for dinner after the baby was born.

Unfortunately, after 3:00 p.m. thats where all the progress stopped.  I continued to stay dilated at an 8 until 6:45 p.m.  Then, my doctor came and broke my water to help move things along.  That's when the contractions started to get worse.  I decided that I was ready to have some IV meds to help with me staying not too exhausted before pushing.  It didn't take much to take the edge off, but they were helpful.
Finally, by 8:30 p.m. I was at a 10! It was time for baby to be here.  However, after 2 1/2 hours of pushing, there was little progress.  Baby was not going to go any further.
It was time to do a C-Section.  Definitely, NOT something I had planned on, but at that point I didn't care I wanted to see our baby girl.

At 11:50 p.m., Arya Ruth Hoehamer was born.

I was so relieved to hear her cry.  It was just such a wonderful moment when she was finally delivered into this world.
 I was overwhelmed with joy!

1st time DADDY held her.

1st moment with MOM.

It was a long day and night, but we were so thrilled to finally see our baby girl!

3rd Trimester...is here!!

3rd trimester 28 weeks - birth (40 weeks)

CRAVINGS ~

1. Chocolate
2. Salty cheese crackers
But mostly sweets. I craved a lot of sweets in the beginning of this trimester.  I craved so much that I was afraid I was going to be delivering a big baby! I would say that chocolate was a craving through this whole trimester.

28 weeks: Baby is the size of an eggplant!!
Baby also already weighs 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 pounds!

29 weeks: Baby is the size of a acorn squash

30 weeks: Baby is the size of a cucumber
I've started feeling baby Hoehamer have the hiccups.

31 weeks: Baby is the size of a pineapple
Baby also now has all of his senses.
Looking forward to seeing our little one!

32 weeks: Baby is the size of a squash.
This week baby flipped to the upside down position!! So excited that means we are getting even closer.

33 weeks: Baby is the size of a durian fruit, which I had no clue what this was so I looked it up.  Apparently it is grown in Southeast Asia and grows on trees.

34 weeks: Baby is the size of a butternut squash.  Baby is about 17 to 18 in long and weighs between 4 and 5 lbs!  Can't believe that in only 6 weeks baby Hoehamer will be here!

35 weeks: Baby is the size of a coconut!  Baby's hearing is completely developed.

36 weeks: Baby is the size of a honeydew. Baby Hoehamer's liver and kidneys are now in working order.

37 weeks:  Baby is the size of a winter melon. Baby measures about 18 to 20 inches and weights between 6 to 9 lbs.  Here's hoping for a 7 pound baby!  But, baby is growing up to 1/2 an ounce a day.

38 weeks:  Baby is the size of a pumpkin.
If I could plan it, I would have baby come after this weekend! Here's hoping to baby coming sooner rather than later!!

Also we had to have a 2nd ultra sound for my ankle because they were afraid I might have a blood clot, which luckily I didn't.  But, we were able to try again and see what we were having.
IT'S A GIRL!!!!
Only 2 weeks to go until we get to see her!!

We didn't make it past 38 weeks.  Baby was born just after 38 weeks.  I will be posting about baby shortly.
SO HAPPY SHE IS HERE!!!
