Memorial Day

So we were in Qulin and Polar Bluff, MO over Memorial weekend.  When we came home on Memorial Day we found water in our basement.  Apparently there had been a bad storm Sunday night. So we got to clean up our basement.

Here is a view from the laundry room side.  This shows how far it came in and how much there was.  Luckily this side didn't have carpet, so we only had to worry about the other side.

Here is Matt working hard at cleaning up as much water as he can.

Then when we were pulling up the carpet to dry out the floor better, we found mold on the carpet.  That's when we decided to just chuck all the carpet.

We stripped the floor and moved all the furniture to one side.  I bleached, washed and dry vacuumed the floor as well.

Then we painted the floor with that epoxy stuff that goes in garages.

Finally we bought a couple of big area rugs @ Walmart so we had some comfort.

And we placed all the furniture back, but in a different layout...now we have 2 sections.

Family Reunion

This Memorial weekend we went to the Scott Family Reunion again. This time we all went together in one vehicle, all being; Mom, Dad, Matt, Me, Bryant, Cassie & Nate. Matt & I drove down to Des Moines Friday night, and dropped the kitties off @ his parents house for them to cat sit.  Then we stayed with my parents.  We got up around 4:15 Saturday morning and left by 5am.  We arrived in Poplar Bluff around 2:30.

The cats did pretty well, Shadow wasn't happy to be locked up for the car ride though.

Nate on the other hand had a fun time. He got to watch Elmo & Toy Story and Finding Nemo...ok we got to watch those as well.  It was fun!

Uncle matt doesn't get to hold Nate very often...it wouldn't be because I hog him @ all :) I was really glad to get this photo of them!!

BUBBLES!!

As usual we take family photos @ the reunion.  Don't we look like a great family.

Here are the kids...Uncles: Kenny, Johnny, Tom, & Freddie.  Aunts: Susan, Joan, & Debbie & then my mom.  We were just missing aunt Joyce and we'd have the whole clan! :) They are such a fun group of siblings!

And here are the in-laws...I don't know how this tradition got started, but instead of taking a photo with the kids & their spouses, we have the kids and then an in-law photo.  I think it's funny, but again I have no idea how it got started.

And finally all the cousins...seriously look how many of us there are...and we are missing some, this isn't even all of us.  Plus, there are more that got cut out of the photo...sorry, I wasn't the one taking the pictures. :) Wish grandma & grandpa could see all of us...someday again.

This one is just funny, because we have Uncle Tom & Aunt Betty in with the cousins :)

And I love this...Nate decided we took too many and he was done.  He really did such a great job staying for all the photos he did.

Tulip Festival '12

Cassie, Bryant & Nate came to visit for a photo opt from our friend Katie Doughan Photography, and the tulip festival.  Here they are on their way to the Tulip Festival!!

He loved the wooden shoe!

Aren't they are great looking family?

I'm so excited that I finally have a photo of us in the orange city wooden shoe.

Nate loved walking back and forth on the little bridge, and looking at all the windmills.

Our last stop for the day was to get some homemade hand-churned ice cream...it was delicious!! Nate really liked it, he kept asking for more from Bryant. :)

I'm just sitting...

Garden: Year 2

This year for my garden I added a compost.

This is what it looks like a few weeks later, with some more stuff piled on.

My 2nd garden!!

This year I used milk jugs as mini green houses as well as a guard from the animals.

I used my spoon markers again.

Instead of planting all from seeds, this year I opted for buying a tomato & cucumber plant.

Finally, another new thing I did was mark where the seeds were with sticks, a friend of mine who has a garden told me this trick.
